Exciting times! Trailer for my Youtube Beauty Channel

Hi guys, today I wanna share my Youtube channel trailer with you! It's not very exciting tbh, but it's just a small start to everything that is to come. Getting started on YT is a looong process and it takes time, money and effort, but it is definitely planned. Meanwhile, this blog remains my main platform. I hope you enjoy!

Ofra Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights by KathleenLights Review & Swatches

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks in Miami Fever and Havana Nights

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks in Miami Fever and Havana Nights

My new order from Ofra finally arrived and I am super excited! I ordered the new liquid lipstick they did in collaboration with Kathleen Lights. I also own Miami Fever which was their first collab and I love it (click here to check out my review and swatches on that one), so when I saw that they are doing it again, I had to get it. Havana Nights is a dark vampy shade that is perfect during this time of the year. But enough rambling for now, here are some pictures!

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks in Miami Fever and Havana Nights

So here are the two swatched side by side. As you can see, Havana Nights is super dark compared to Miami Fever.

Yes, I am officially Edward Scissorhands. And now some lip swatches:

I did not use a lipliner with it.

Ofra Havana Nights in natural daylight. And sidenote: This is some serious case of resting bitchface.
Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights (artificial lighting)
Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights (artificial lighting)
Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights. The highlighter is also from Ofra - it's their Dupethat Highlighter in You Dew You.

I must say that Ofra's liquid lipstick formula is great - they do not feel drying at all. I compared them to the Anastasia ones before as they are not 100% smudge-proof either, yet they last really well on the lips and feel comfortable all day long.

I will say though that I find this color to apply a bit more patchy than Miami Fever, however it is to be expected with such a dark color. Also you might want to use a lipliner with dark lipsticks in general to prevent them from bleeding.

Now how gorgeous is this color?? It is super dark on me as I am very pale at the moment, so it's definitely not your everyday kind of color, but it is a perfect color for a night out or just to rock anytime you're feeling a little fancy. Great job, Kathleen!

I am once again very happy with this purchase from Ofra. I also got the Dupethat Highlighter in You Dew You because I heard that it is supposed to be a dupe for Becca's Champagne Pop and I LOVE Champagne Pop. I'll definitely do a post comparing the two, so be sure check back for that!

MAC lipstick review & swatches: Pink Plaid, Relentlessly Red & Creme d'Nude (matte, retro matte & cremesheen)

MAC lipsticks are some of the best lipsticks out there. They are pretty pricey, but their quality, selection of colors and finishes is amazing.Today I want to show you 3 MAC lipstick that I own: Pink Plaid, Relentlessly Red and Creme d'Nude.

Pink Plaid

MAC Matte Lipstick in Pink Plaid

Pink Plaid is a matte finish lipstick and lasts very well on the lips. The formula is not drying at all. Very girly shade that looks equally beautiful on blondes as on brunettes - you can literally pair this with any makeup look. I think this might be my favorite everyday pink lipstick, even though I usually prefer beigy/browny nudes.

Relentlessly Red

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Relentlessly Red

What an amazing color! It's a super neon bright pinky red and looks super intense against my fair skin. I have seen people pair it with MAC Cherry Lipliner and that looked super gorgeous as well, giving it a more reddish tone. The retro matte finish is one of my favorite finishes for MAC lipsticks because it stays put forever and doesn't budge. It is slightly more drying than the regular matte finish, however in the age of matte liquid lipsticks, this does not feel very drying to me.

Creme d'Nude

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme d'Nude

Creme d'Nude is a cremesheen finish lipstick and as you can see, it's a pretty light beigy peachy nude. It's very comfortable on the lips, but doesn't last as long as the more matte finishes. This looks gorgeous with a smokey eye! I don't reach for it very often I must admit since I am not that into the light lip look (anymore), but it is still a beautiful color.

Classic & affordable makeup look perfect for the holidays! Black winged eyeliner + red lips using mostly drugstore products!

This is such a classy look, guys! It doesn't get any more basic than this as it is super quick and easy, but at the same time it makes a big impact and looks absolutely beautiful. There's no eyeshadow involved here, plus I am using mostly very affordable products. So if you're working with the minimum principle, as I do a lot of the time, then you're getting a lot out of this with minimal effort - totally worth trying!

Here's what I used:

Eyeliner: Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Eyebrows: L'Oréal Brow Artist Plumper in medium/dark
Mascara: Kiko Ultra Tech Curve Mascara in black
Lipstick: L'Oréal Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Siren in Scarlet
Foundation: Vichy Dermablend in 25 Nude (NOT DRUGSTORE, but the best and fullest coverage foundation in the world!)
Concealer: H&M Cover-up Concealer in Vanilla
Blush: BH Cosmetics Professional Blush Palette
Contour: NYX Powder Blush in Taupe
Highlighter: Becca Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop (NOT DRUGSTORE, I know. You can use any highlighter that you have and it will do the trick).

I focused on keeping my skin dewy and fresh for this look by using a ton of highlighter and a setting spray to take away any powderiness. As you can see I am very pale at the moment, and I think that totally adds to the "snow white" vibe of this look (even though I'm blonde...I know). I also skipped false lashes because for a quick & easy look I just like to skip them altogether, but also because I didn't want this to turn out too pin-up-esque!

Greyish pink / greige lip trend: my favorite lipsticks (featuring Dose of Colors Stone)!

Sooo...I love the current lip trend of these greyish pinky lip colors. I think they look so nice (don't even know what it is about them). They are not so "in-your-face", however they compliment pretty much any look. Therefore I thought I'd share my 3 favorite lipsticks in this category with you. They are slightly different in color and have 3 different finishes, but they're all in that color family and great choices if you love this lip trend.

Let's start with one of my favorites not just in this color family but in general: I am obsessed with the Essence Love & Sound lipstick in the color 02 - Glastonberry. It's described as a soft berry on Essence's website, and out of the 3 I'm showing you today, it's the lightest one and also the most affordable option (I believe it was € 2.99). It has an incredibly creamy texture and is super comfortable to wear. Here it is:

Essence Love & Sound lipstick in 02 - Glastonberry

I do find the lighting to be a little bit off in the lip swatch photos, but you can also check out my arm swatches above as I find them to be more true to color.

Next is a very pretty lipstick as well and it's the NYX High Voltage lipstick in Flutter Kiss. It is a tad deeper than the Essence one and slightly more purply, but also very creamy and buttery. This was € 6.99. I love the texture of this one, but do keep in mind that it is not extremely long lasting due to its more glossy finish.

And lastly, a favorite of many people: Dose of Colors liquid lipstick in Stone. This is super hyped and used to be limited edition and could only be purchased in a bundle of 3, the Terra collection. Due to the enormous hype, the colors from the Terra collection are now available individually, and that's when I got my hands on it (it's $ 18). It's a super matte, greyish dusty pink color:

Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in Stone

It's the priciest out of the 3, but it's the only liquid lipstick and therefore has a true matte finish once it dries, so it also has the best staying power. I really love this color, what I have noticed with it though is that if you love to overline your lips, it will really show with this shade. I think when you compare the 3 lip swatch photos you can tell that in the last one, my lips look obviously overdrawn, even though my application was the exact same in all 3 pictures. Just something to keep in mind if you like to overline your lips.

So which one is my favorite? Hands down the Essence one! It is the easiest to throw on, feels super comfortable on the lips without sliding around, looks great with everything...the only thing is, this might be limited edition :O I don't know why companies keep doing this to us! If you can still get your hands on it online, don't hesitate because it's beautiful! Here is a photo in which I am wearing it:

Technic "Highlights" Highlighter - Dupe for Benefit High Beam! Review & Swatches!

Everyone loves an affordable dupe for a high end product, so today I am reviewing a dupe for Benefit's High Beam liquid highlighter: Technic's Highlighter!

As you can see, the packaging is pretty much identical to the Benefit one. It comes with the same brush applicator and the color of the actual product seems to be the same as well. Let's take a closer look!

Generously applied to the back of my hand, that's what the color looks like. It's a light pinky color. The below picture shows how it looks blended in:

It blends very nicely and you can definitely build it up to your liking. And finally, because I know it's most helpful, here's what it looks like applied to the face:

I am not wearing anything on my face except for the Technic Highlighter and as you can see, it gives me a very nice glow! I applied it quite generously and built it up just so you can see. There are tiny shimmers in there, but unless what I've read about this product beforehand, I don't find it to be chunky or glittery at all.

I would always recommend setting a cream product with a powder, whether it be foundation, eyeshadow or highlighter, just to prolong the wear of the product and lock it into place. Therefore I like to use this product as a base for my powder highlighter, which intensifies it big time. This is also great for strobing! I actually used it in my strobing look which you can check out here.

I do not own the Benefit High Beam for reference, and I am not going to purchase it because as far as I saw and read, it is literally almost the exact same as the Technic highlighter, except the Technic one is EUR 5 whereas the Benefit one is EUR 29. The Technic one looks slightly pinker and swatches less opaque than the Benefit one, however you can't really tell a difference once they are blended in.

So if you're into highlighters, definitely pick this up! I think everyone needs to own a liquid highlighter because they are great to mix in with your foundation or for creating a fresh and youthful look in the summertime. Also, a liquid always looks more natural than a powder as it blends in much better into your skin rather than sitting on top of it.

Thumbs up for this product!

Carli Bybel - 14 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette - Review & Swatches!

It took me about 3 months to receive this palette! I had already given up on it when it finally arrived now, so I am very excited to share this.

1st row, left to right
2nd row, left to right
3rd row, left to right
These are the highlighters/bronzers!

I do own a few BH Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes and find them to be a little bit hit and miss. While I LOVE the Missy Lynn Palette (click to view the review + swatches), the "Smokey Eyes - 28 Color Eyeshadow Palette" was a huge disappointment (very poor pigmentation). So I hoped that Carli's palette would be one of the good ones - and it is!

First of all, the color selection in this palette is so beautiful! You will love this if you're into warm looks since you get bronzes, golds, coppers, rose golds, and also some rosy, pinky, mauvy and plummy shades. Some of the eyeshadows look very similar to the highlighters, but when you swatch them, you can see that they are not the exact same. These colors will look good on any eyecolor.

The first shade from the 2nd row really surprised me when I swatched it because it is a duochrome color that reflects pink and gold. So beautiful! The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is great, they are buttery and blend easily. You get a lot of shimmers/metallics in this palette, however you get 5 mattes as well: the first row is all matte except for the second to left shade. The last color from the 2nd row, which is a cool toned brown, does have some shimmer to it as you can see, but it pretty much looks matte swatched, therefore it qualifies as a matte.

The bottom row has the highlighters, which are bigger than the eyeshadows and have a floral design on them. I can only use the first two as actual highlighters because I am very fair. The other two shades can be used as bronzers or eyeshadows as well. I found that the floral design on the highlighters fades very easily, especially on the second to left shade which seems to be even more buttery than the others. When I dipped my finger in it a couple of times to swatch it, I already removed most of that pattern. So if you use this everyday, chances are that you might actually run out some time.

The palette comes with a mirror!

I am VERY impressed with BH's quality. This palette is only $ 12,50. It is limited edition and very popular, so if you want it, you should get your hands on it now. I definitely love it and highly recommend it!

Easy & wearable smokey eye for blondes - great for clubbing or any special occasion! + tips on how to create a smokey eye!

Some close-ups:

This look is glam but yet very wearable. Being a (light) blonde, smokey eyes can be difficult sometimes as the lighter the hair, the more the makeup is going to "show". With the right technique and the right colors, anyone can rock a smokey eye.

Here are some tips on how to master the smokey eye:
  • If you want to play it safe, stick to earthy tones like browns, greys, taupes, blacks, beiges, creams...
  • Don't go too dark! All black is very hard to pull of. Use different colors because that will help with the blending and give more dimension to your look.
  • You also want to make sure you're not going too top or bottom heavy but balance both out.
  • Another tip is not to bring the eyeshadow on your top lid up too high because that's what will give you that panda look. If you have hooded eyes, you want to bring the eyeshadow slightly higher up, but just high enough so you can see it with your eyes open. You never want to bring a dark color all the way up to your eyebrow!
  • Blend! And then blend some more. If you're having trouble, use a skintoned eyeshadow to blend out the edges.

Here's what I used to create this smokey eye:

I used a light shimmery eyeshadow from my Morphe 35O Palette on the lid. For the crease, I mixed some browns and greys and finally added a little bit of Makeup Geek's Corrupt which is an intense black, and then blended everything together. I put the same browns and greys on the lower lashline as well but kept it a bit warmer than the top lid. Finally, I added some black winged liner and some falsies. For special occasions, I highly recommend wearing falsies as they really make such a big difference!

The highlight I am wearing is of course Becca's Champagne Pop and the lippie is Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood.

I love neutral looks like this one (neutral, not natural :)) because they look amazing but not too over the top.

Morphe Brushes 35D - 35 COLOR DARK SMOKY PALETTE Review & Swatches!

1st row, left to right
2nd row, left to right
3rd row, left to right
4th row, left to right
5th row, left to right

Yup, another Morphe palette! I really love the Morphe eyeshadows because their pigmentation and overall quality is amazing, plus they are so affordable - you get 35 eyeshadows for $ 22.99. I have already reviewed and swatched several Morphe palettes on this blog, so make sure to check these out as well.

This palette has such fun shades! It's probably not your everyday kind of palette since it has some very dark shades and also some very colorful ones in it. You get purples, blues, greens, turquoises, gunmetals, greys, browns, blacks...so you can create many different smokey looks using this palette.

I am absolutely in love with the metallic shades. Just look at the swatches of the 2nd row...that pigmentation is unreal, and they swatched so buttery and smooth! There are also some very glittery shades in here (e. g. in the bottom row), but I must say they look much more glittery in the pan than they apply, which you can tell by the swatches.

This is an amazing supplementary palette in my opinion as it has some awesome shades, but just be aware that not every shade that you might need for your complete eye look might be in here. For example, I usually like to put a highlight under my browbone and in my inner corners when I'm doing a dark smokey eye, but there is no such shade in here. So you might have to grab for an extra eyeshadow.

However, I am so impressed with this particular palette! If you like to incorporate a pop of color into your eye looks once in a while, you need this. You also need this if you love dark smokey eyes because you get so much variety in here.

I finally got it!!! It took me about 3 months to get this palette due to the current Morphe hype. This palette in particular has been all over social media for months with all well-known beauty bloggers/vloggers raving about it, therefore it has constantly been sold out. Since this is a permanent item, Morphe is restocking this every once in a while - that's how I eventually got my hands on one. However, the new stock always sells out again super quickly, so if you want one, make sure to be fast!

I don't think I need to say much about this palette because you have probably heard so much about it already. There are different finishes in here, so you get a variety of mattes, satins and metallic/shimmers. My favorite shades in this palette have to be the metallic ones since they are incredibly buttery and very pigmented. Some of the mattes swatched a bit powdery and did not go on as opaque as the others, but they're still decent and can be built up.

This is a beautiful warm-toned palette that is perfect for fall with its browns and oranges. I personally don't do my makeup according to seasons but according to my mood, so for me this is going to be used all year around. If you love warm eyeshadow looks, this palette is perfect!

I own several Morphe palettes, so make sure to check out their reviews and swatches on this blog.
